Katherine Tweed reports on a study by South-Central Partnership for Energy Efficiency as a Resource (SPEER) that indicates Texas could have saved $200 million over five days in 2012 and 2013 if demand response were allowed to fully participate in ERCOT. Two bills were introduced in the Texas legislature and did not move this session but attracted media attention. SPEER continues to work with AEMA and others on educating utilities and regulators in Texas on the importance of demand response to the grid and consumers.
