Distributed Energy Resources Featured in House Climate Crisis Action Plan

AEMA supports and is proud to have contributed ideas for an action plan released today by the House of Representatives Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. Katherine Hamilton, the Executive Director of AEMA, testified before the Committee in 2019 and AEMA subsequently provided recommendations to the report. A statement from AEMA was included on the Committee website and is below.

“The Select Committee recognizes the importance of clean, distributed energy resources as solutions to simultaneously reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase resilience. AEMA supports the recommendations in the report and hopes that Congress can move quickly to enact policies that give customers choices and empower people and entrepreneurs to combat the climate crisis while increasing the flexibility of our power grid.” – Katherine Hamilton, Executive Director, Advanced Energy Management Alliance

The inclusion of distributed energy as crucial to resilience; this report reinforces the argument AEMA has made in advocating for inclusion of these customer-based resources in state and federal legislative and regulatory policy. Distributed energy resources lower emissions, reduce customer cost, increase choice, and allow for a more efficient electric grid. AEMA will continue our advocacy and this report will provide additional fodder for our engagement.
